Defenceman PK Subban Family Immigrated To Canada From Caribbean In The 70s

PK Subban is a professional ice hockey defenseman who is presently unsigned. Subban most recently played for the New Jersey Devils of the National Hockey League.

He was chosen by the Montreal Canadiens in the second round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, 43rd overall. The athlete tied Kris Letang for the most points among defensemen in the 2013 season, winning the Norris Trophy as the NHL’s greatest defenseman.

In the summer of 2014, the defenceman consented to sign an eight-year, $72 million contract with the Canadiens that runs through the 2021–22 campaign.

After the 2015–16 campaign, he was dealt to the Nashville Predators, where he spent three seasons before being moved to New Jersey in 2019. PK also works for ESPN as an NHL commentator.

PK Subban Was Born To Karl and Maria Subban

Karl and Maria Subban welcomed PK into the world in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. His parents arrived in Ontario from the Caribbean in the 1970s, both of them.

His mother Maria moved from Montserrat to Hamilton, while his father Karl moved from Jamaica to Sudbury.

PK had a nice upbringing because his father, a retired school administrator, provided a good life for his family.

Karl and Maria reared their children responsibly and lovingly, and as a result, they turned out to be amazing adults.

His father may have played sports with his children when they were small, and his parents have always pushed their kids to excel in sports.

Both Karl and Maria appear to be Christians and are citizens of Canada.

Malcolm and Jordan’s brother is PK Subban

Jordan and Malcolm Subban’s brother, PK Subban, and they seem to get along well.

Malcolm is a goalie for the Buffalo Sabres in the National Hockey League and performs the national anthem. Malcolm was selected by the Boston Bruins in the first round of the 2012 NHL Entry Draft.

The Ontario Hockey League’s Belleville Bulls were the goaltender’s junior hockey team.

On December 2, 2021, the Chicago Blackhawks traded him to the Buffalo Sabres for unspecified future benefits. On December 4, Malcolm made his debut for the Sabres. During a 6-2 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes, he let up six goals on 25 shots before being removed in the third period.

At the 2013 World Junior Championships in Ufa, Russia, the singer of the national song played goal for Team Canada.

Jordan, on the other hand, is an unrestricted free agent and a professional ice hockey defenseman. Jordan most recently played for the Hershey Bears of the American Hockey League (AHL).

In the fourth round (115th overall) of the 2013 NHL Entry Draft, the Vancouver Canucks selected him. He was provided with a three-year entry-level contract by the Canucks on May 14, 2015. He was transferred to the Canucks’ American Hockey League affiliate after training camp for the 2015–16 campaign.

The defenseman spent the entire season with the Comets, playing in 67 games and contributing to 11 goals and 25 assists.

Jordan signed a one-year AHL contract with the Hershey Bears on August 12, 2021, after sitting out the pandemic-shortened and disrupted 2020–21 season as a free agent.

Natasha and Nastassia are PK Subban’s Sisters

The oldest child in Subban’s family is Nastassia. Nastassia is a Jane and Finch teacher who helps out with the school’s hot lunch program, which offers pupils who don’t have lunch a nutritional meal.

In the beginning, PK’s older sister wanted to work in family law to assist kids and their parents, but she soon decided that wasn’t the career for her.

Natasha entered the teaching profession as well, and she now imparts her expertise in the arts to her students at Elmbank Middle Junior School.

After testing revealed that children were having difficulty with reading, PK’s older sister is also in charge of improving literacy at her school.

The sisters were extremely important in helping P.K. He gave the Montreal Children’s Hospital a $10 million commitment in September, which the hospital called “the largest charitable dedication by a sports personality in Canadian history.”

Lindsey Vonn, P.K. Subban end engagement after 3 years together

P.K. and Lindsey Vonn Subban Ended their Engagement

PK Subban and Lindsey Vonn declared the termination of their engagement on Instagram on Tuesday, December 29, 2020. In August 2019, PK proposed to Lindsey, and they thereafter became engaged.

Also shortly after Christmas, she made him a proposal. At the time, Lindsey said that guys can wear engagement rings too.

Given both PK and Lindsey posted the same Instagram photo with identical messages, the split seems to be amicable.

In his statement, the hockey player called Lindsey “one of the most kindhearted caring individuals I know” and said that they had “chosen to move forward apart.”

With an emerald ring—birthstone Lindsey’s and favorite color—the athlete proposed in 2019.

They hadn’t talked about getting engaged or looked at rings together, so the former ski racer claimed she was taken aback by the news. Lindsey added that they have no immediate plans to be hitched.

Before breaking up, the couple dated in 2018 and had been living together for two years.

He increased to 56 points in 68 games in 2006–07, the season in which the Canadiens later selected him in the second round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft. Following that, Subban finished the 2007–08 season with 46 points in just 58 games, before finishing the postseason with 23 points and an identical eight goal total to his regular season total. He aided Belleville in reaching the J. Ross Robertson Cup Finals against the Kitchener Rangers, when they were defeated in seven games to lose the OHL championship. In the 2008–09 regular season, Subban ended his four-year junior career with 76 points in 56 games, helping the Bulls reach the OHL semifinals before losing.

Professional

Ottawa Senators

Two weeks after his final junior game, in May 2009, the Canadiens signed Subban to a three-year, entry-level deal. He started the 2009–10 campaign with the American Hockey League (AHL) club of Montreal, the Hamilton Bulldogs. He was then chosen to participate in the 2010 AHL All-Star Game in Portland later in the season. Soon after, on February 11, 2010, he received his first call-up to the Canadiens. The following day, on February 12, he made his NHL debut against the Philadelphia Flyers and recorded his first point of the season, an assist.

In the first round Stanley Cup playoff series between the Montreal Canadiens and the Washington Capitals on April 26, 2010, Subban was called up from Hamilton. In his first NHL playoff game of his career, on April 26, he notched an assist for his first NHL playoff point. On April 30, 2010, he scored his first goal in Game 1 of the Canadiens’ second-round series against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Subban became just the third rookie defenseman in Canadiens history to get three assists in a single game in Game 3 of the 2010 Eastern Conference Finals against the Philadelphia Flyers. In total, Subban had eight points and one goal in 14 playoff games for the Canadiens, who were defeated by Philadelphia.

Subban was transferred back to the Bulldogs, who were still in the running for the Calder Cup playoffs, following the Canadiens’ defeat against the Flyers. Subban received the AHL President’s Award at the end of the AHL season in honor of his achievements during the previous 12 months.

In an 8-1 victory over the Minnesota Wild on March 20, 2011, Subban became the first Canadiens rookie defenseman to record a hat-trick in a single game.

International play

At the 2008 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in the Czech Republic, Subban was chosen to represent Canada. Despite getting little playing time as Canada’s seventh defenseman, he was able to help the team win their fourth straight gold medal by defeating Sweden in the tournament’s final. At the 2009 World Juniors in Ottawa, Subban once again represented Canada while assuming a more significant position on the squad. He contributed three goals, nine points, and a +12 goal differential to Canada’s fifth consecutive gold medal victory over Sweden in the tournament final. Along with Cody Hodgson and tournament MVP John Tavares, Subban was selected to the All-Star Team for the Tournament.

Subban was given the opportunity to compete in the 2012 IIHF World Championship, but he got hurt before the event. Subban was a late addition to the Canadian team for the 2013 tournament in the following season; he played in one game during the elimination stage, which Canada lost. As part of Canada’s defense of their gold medal from the 2010 Winter Olympics in Sochi, Subban was named to the team on January 7, 2014. They defeated Sweden 3-0 to win the tournament’s gold medal.
