Early life
Mohammed was born on 4 October 1980 in Leeds, West Yorkshire. His mother was a Cyprus-born general practitioner and his father was an Indo-Trinidadian legal professional. Abbey Grange High School was his alma mater for his secondary education. He apparently turned down an offer from Cambridge University and chose Durham University, where he was a member of St Aidan’s College and played violin in the university orchestra. He had auditioned for the Durham Revue twice but failed to get in and instead frequented the local comedy circuit. It was because of his interest in humor that he decided to try out for the Footlights, which he did exceptionally well at. Following a performance at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, he was contacted by a BBC producer.

Mohammed has appeared in the second season of the British television show Reggie Perrin, which airs on BBC One, and he was a co-presenter on the British television comedy series The King Is Dead, which aired on BBC Three alongside Simon Bird and Katy Wix.
