Katie Collinsworth: Who Is She? Few Facts About The Elder Daughter Of Announcer Cris Collinsworth

Anthony Cris Collinsworth was a wide receiver for the Cincinnati Bengals in the National Football League (NFL) from 1981 to 1988. He is now a sportscaster.

An All-American who has won 17 Sports Emmys and works as a sportscaster for NBC, Showtime, and the NFL Network. A big part of Pro Football Focus is also owned by Cris.

On Sunday night, NFL fans who watched the Dallas Cowboys play the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in their first regular-season game voiced concerns about Cris Collinsworth.

Collinsworth, a veteran NBC announcer, did his usual job as a color commentator for the first “Sunday Night Football” broadcast in 2022. He worked with Mike Tirico to call the game. Collinsworth, on the other hand, seemed to be sick.

People who watched the game were wondering what was wrong with his voice. It was enough for Tirico and Collinsworth to talk about his health during the first quarter of the game.

Orlando Native Married Husband Patrick Hughes In 2016

Katie Collinsworth, 32, and Patrick Hughes, 32, got married on April 2, 2016, after dating for a few years. Before they got married, they were together for a long time.

The first picture of the couple was shared on Halloween, October 28, 2012. This makes it seem like the couple may have started dating when they were still in high school.

Also, on May 23, 2015, Patrick got down on one knee and asked the woman he had been seeing for years to be his wife. In the same way, the couple couldn’t wait for their wedding. Katie posted a beautiful photo of them and wrote that there were 100 days left until the big day.

Katie and Patrick got married on April 2, 2016, in front of their friends and family. This was the end of a long wait.

In April of this year, they celebrated their sixth wedding anniversary. She also posts a lot of pictures on Instagram with her husband that show them having fun together.

The Hughes Couple Is Parents To Three Children: Beau Bennett, Sophie, And Hollyn

Katie and Patrick have three kids named Beau Bennett, Sophie, and Hollyn Elizabeth Hughes.

Hollyn, their first daughter, was born in May 2018, and Beau Bennett Hughes, their second child, was born in June 2020, two years after Hollyn.

Well, the number doesn’t end here. This year, Sophie Banks Hughes was born to parents who already had two kids.

The difference between the ages of the siblings is about two years.

The Eldest Child Katie Has Three Additional Siblings

Austin, Katie’s brother and Collinsworth’s first-born son, was the captain of the football team at the University of Notre Dame. Ashley Collinsworth, the second child of Cris and Holly Collinsworth, ran track while she was in school at Harvard.

Austin is also a safety guard from Fort Thomas, Kentucky, and he has decided to play for the Notre Dame Fighting Irish.

In March 2020, Jac Collinsworth, the youngest and most famous Collinsworth child, joined the NBC Sports team.

Her Brother Jac Is A Play-By-Play Host

In March 2020, Jac Collinsworth joined NBC Sports as a play-by-play announcer. He worked with commentator Jason Garrett to call games for Notre Dame and the USFL.

He is the play-by-play announcer for football games and the co-host of Football Night in America, which is the most popular studio sports show. He is also a guest on Peacock Sunday Night Football Final, the host of the ND on NBC Podcast, and the play-by-play announcer for Atlantic 10 college basketball games.

Collinsworth has also worked at three Olympic Games and was a co-host on the NBC show before Super Bowl LVI.

Also, her brother Collinsworth was an anchor for NFL Live and a host for Sunday NFL Countdown for ESPN during the 2017–19 NFL seasons. In July 2019, Cris was named the host of The Huddle, the most popular football show on ESPN’s ACC Network.

Her Mother Holly Bankemper Is A Successful Attorney

Katie’s mother, Holly Bankemper, is an attorney who lives with her husband, Collinsworth, in Fort Thomas, Kentucky. Cris Collinsworth and Holly Bankemper got together when she was a cheerleader at the University of Kentucky.

The United States Sun says that in the late 1980s and early 1990s, they both went to the University of Cincinnati College of Law. They were still in college when they got married on June 3, 1989. Momma Holly is still working as an attorney in the area around Cincinnati.

Her mother, Bankemper, has mostly stayed out of the spotlight over the years. This could be because the family lives in a small town near Cincinnati, Ohio, called Fort Thomas, Kentucky.

In the same way, her 63-year-old father played wide receiver for the Bengals in the NFL for the first time in 1981. He played football for eight years and went to the Super Bowl twice, but he never won.

Collinsworth became a sports announcer for NBC in 1990. He had left the NFL in 1988. He was also on NFL on Fox, HBO’s Broadcasting from Wimbledon, and Inside the NFL on Showtime.

He has won eight Sports Emmy Awards, and seven of them were for Outstanding Sports Studio Analyst.

Early Years of Cris Collinsworth

Collinsworth was born in Dayton, Ohio. His parents were Donetta Browning Collinsworth and Abraham Lincoln “Abe” Collinsworth, who was also born on Lincoln’s birthday. Abe, also known as “Lincoln,” was one of the best scorers in Kentucky high school basketball history. He played for the Kentucky Wildcats “Fiddling Five,” who won the national championship in 1958. Donetta was a teacher, and Abe taught and coached in high school before becoming a principal and then the superintendent of schools for Brevard County.

Cris’s family moved from Ohio to Melbourne, Florida, when he was four years old. Then, in 1972, they moved to Titusville, which was close by. Cris and his brother went to Astronaut High School, where their father was the headmaster. Cris was great at a lot of different sports for the Astronaut War Eagles, and in 1976, his senior year, he won the FHSAA Class 3A 100-yard dash state championship.

Cris Collinsworth’s Career in College

Collinsworth was recruited by college football teams all over the South because he was tall and fast. He went to the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, on an athletic scholarship from coach Doug Dickey. Even though Collinsworth was recruited as a run-first quarterback for the Gators’ option offense, he made his college debut against the Rice Owls and threw a school record 99-yard touchdown pass to Derrick Gaffney.

After his team’s option attack struggled against top defenses during Collinsworth’s rookie year in 1977, Coach Dickey changed Florida’s strategy from a run-heavy offense to a more balanced pro set attack for 1978. Collinsworth was moved to wide receiver, and former Gator quarterback Steve Spurrier was his new position coach in his first year as a coach. Collinsworth did a great job in his new job, even though Florida’s offense did not improve enough to save Dickey or his coaching staff’s jobs.

In 1978, 1979, and 1980, he was named to the first team of the Southeastern Conference (SEC). In 1980, he was also named to the first team of both the All-American and Academic All-America teams. Collinsworth was a senior captain on the 1980 Gator team, which went 8-4 after going 0-10-1 in 1979, Charlie Pell’s first year as Florida’s head coach. At the time, this was the most change in one year in the history of NCAA Division I football. In 1980, Collinsworth finished his college career by getting the MVP award for the Tangerine Bowl.

During his time at Florida, Collinsworth ran for an extra 210 yards and caught 120 passes for 1,937 yards. He scored 14 touchdowns by catching passes, two touchdowns by running the ball, one on a kickoff return, and two touchdowns by throwing the ball. He also took back 30 kickoffs for a total of 726 yards, or 24.2 yards on average per return. In 1981, he graduated from the university with a bachelor’s degree in accounting, and in the same year, he was inducted into the student hall of fame. He was named a “Gator Great” and put into the Athletic Hall of Fame in 1991.

Cris Collinsworth’s Occupational Career

Collinsworth was picked by the Cincinnati Bengals with the 37th overall pick in the second round of the 1981 NFL Draft. He played his whole eight-year NFL career with the Bengals. Collinsworth was the team’s best receiver in his first year, and his 67 receptions were the most by a rookie wide receiver in the history of the league. Collinsworth’s height of 6 ft 5 in often put him in bad situations against cornerbacks who were much shorter (1.96 m). He was taller than everyone else, and his speed made him a real threat.

Collinsworth caught five passes for 107 yards in Super Bowl XVI, but he also lost the ball when San Francisco defensive back Eric Wright tackled him in the second quarter. After the turnover, the 49ers drove 92 yards to score, which helped San Francisco win 26-21.

Collinsworth signed a contract with the Tampa Bay Bandits of the USFL in 1985, but the deal was canceled because he had a weak ankle and couldn’t pass the physical. In his last game, Super Bowl XXIII, he went back to the Bengals and played for them for the rest of the 1988 season. He caught three passes for 40 yards. In 107 games over eight NFL seasons, he caught 417 passes for 6,698 yards and scored 36 touchdowns. This was the end of his eight-year NFL career. Patrick Hughes, who was born and raised in Orlando, was the love of her life when they got married in 2016.
