Islamabad Usman Mirza is sentenced to life in prison for assaulting a couple

Usman Mirza, along with five co-accused in the case, was sentenced to life in jail for sexually assaulting and filming a couple in Islamabad. Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani announced the verdict on Friday.

Mirza, the primary culprit in the Islamabad harassment case, and four others were sentenced to life in prison on Friday, while two accomplices were acquitted. The case was tried in Islamabad’s Additional Sessions Court, where the police presented all of the defendants, including Usman Mirza.

Following the hearing, Additional Sessions Judge Ata Rabbani sentenced Usman Mirza, Hafiz Ataur Rehman, Adaras Qayyum Butt, Farhan Shaheen, and Mohib Bangash to life imprisonment. Umar Bilal and Rehan Hassan Mughal, on the other hand, were found not guilty. The judge asked accused Farhan Shaheen to recount what transpired on that day during today’s hearing.

He claimed that he was not present at the time and that he was innocent; nonetheless, the judge ordered the police to return him after hearing his side of the story. Mohib Mirza, the accused, also told the judge that he was at home when the incident occurred. Meanwhile, Usman Mirza was cross-examined by the extra sessions judge, who asked him why he made the video.

In response to the query, he stated that he was unaware of the video and that “this was done by our opponents.”
