Where is Lyntell Washington’s Killer Robert Marks Now?

The terrible story of Lyntell Washington is investigated in depth on the ABC News programme titled “20/20: The Barefoot Witness.” After a search that spanned many parishes in Louisiana, the skeletal remains of the 40-year-old were located in one of the parishes. The investigators determined that Lyntell had been murdered and that her daughter, who was only three years old, may have held a clue to the identity of her mother’s killer. In the end, they tracked down Robert Marks, who worked alongside Lyntell. So, if you’re curious about how Robert was taken into custody and where he might be right now, we’ve got you covered with both of those questions.

Who is Robert Marks?

Robert Jovantie Marks was serving as an assistant principal at Brookstown Middle Magnet Academy in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, at the time of the event. He was Lyntell’s co-worker; yet, as the results of the investigation showed, the nature of their relationship extended far beyond that of co-workers. On June 9, 2016, Leslie Parms made a 911 call after discovering Lyntell’s kid, who was 3 years old, in a parking lot. The vehicle that belonged to the mother was also in the parking lot. When the authorities arrived, they discovered the young girl with blood on her feet, as well as blood inside of Lyntell’s vehicle. She looked to have been there, maybe witnessing the murder of her mother, which was a surprising revelation that came to light.

The child, who was just three years old at the time, related to the officers that she had been with Lyntell and a man named “Mr. Robbie.” She then recalls hearing a blast and seeing her mother shivering after the incident. In addition to this, Lyntell’s daughter stated that her father was cleaning up the blood, and she further stated that her mother was “in the lake.” Lyntell was Robert’s mistress despite the fact that he was married. At the time of her passing, she was seven months pregnant, and he was the father of the unborn child. On June 14, 2016, Lyntell was discovered by authorities in Iberville Parish, Louisiana, in a ditch. Her skeletal bones pointed to a headshot wound having been the cause of her death.

Later on, the authorities indicated that the unborn kid might have been able to live if it had received medical care. Lyntell was in her third trimester at the time, and the baby did not sustain any injuries during the incident. When Robert was questioned about their encounter, he confirmed that it took place on June 8, 2016, in the parking lot of a Walmart in Baker, Louisiana. On the other hand, he stated that they had barely talked for around half an hour before parting ways. Robert continued by saying that he was now in a restaurant watching basketball games with a few other pals. The evidence from the cell phone calls cast doubt on the location of the murder that Robert was initially charged with committing, which took place in East Baton Rouge.

Therefore, in December of 2020, Robert was charged with a crime in the parish of Iberville. The location history of Lyntell and Robert’s cell phones revealed that they were in the town of Ramah, Louisiana, on the evening of June 8, 2016. In addition, the authorities indicated that there was no indication of a criminal act having taken place at Lyntell’s apartment, Robert’s house in Zachary, Louisiana, or a dump in the same general region. In the end, they came to the conclusion that she had been murdered in East Baton Rouge, and the body had been brought to Iberville.

Where is Robert Marks Today?

In December of 2021, Robert stood trial, and the prosecution contended that he had murdered Lyntell in order to conceal the fact that he was involved with her. A co-worker of Lyntell’s claims that Lyntell made threats to reveal the affair they were having. In addition to this, the prosecution asserted that Robert had been involved with a third lady and had lied to her about his occupation as a doctor. The defence, on the other hand, argued that the case was based solely on circumstantial evidence; the murder weapon was never discovered, and there was no proof that Robert actually had his phone with him at the time of the crime.

In spite of this, the jury decided that Robert was guilty of multiple offences, including murder in the second degree, abduction in the second degree, feticide in the first degree, and aggravated kidnapping of a child. He was given a sentence of life in jail without the chance of parole in February of 2022, when he was 45 years old. According to the documents, he is still a prisoner at the Louisiana State Penitentiary in Angola, which is located in the West Feliciana Parish.
